Summary

Activity Description:

The Texas MPJE Review Course is a comprehensive educational session designed to prepare pharmacy professionals for success on the Texas Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE). This course provides an in-depth review of federal and Texas state laws governing pharmacy practice, offering participants a solid legal foundation and practical strategies for navigating MPJE-style questions.

Through interactive instruction and case-based discussions, learners will develop a thorough understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities, regulatory compliance, and the specific statutes enforced by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) and federal agencies. This course serves as both a structured guide to MPJE preparation and a valuable resource for practicing pharmacists seeking to refresh their legal knowledge.

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacist will be able to:
1. Develop a foundational understanding of federal and Texas state laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including the roles and responsibilities of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other personnel, as a basis for further MPJE preparation.
2. Apply legal and regulatory requirements to pharmacy practice, including licensure, registration, and certification processes, in alignment with MPJE competency areas.
3. Analyze the legal requirements for prescribing, dispensing, and administering controlled and non-controlled substances, including conditions for valid prescriptions and refill authorizations.
4. Evaluate a prescription or drug order for compliance with Texas and federal laws, identifying potential legal and ethical concerns pharmacists may encounter on the MPJE and in practice.
5. Demonstrate an understanding of pharmacy recordkeeping, inventory management, and security measures for controlled substances, ensuring compliance with DEA and Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) regulations.
6. Distinguish between federal and Texas-specific regulations related to drug distribution, compounding, and the sale of over-the-counter and behind-the-counter medications.
7. Assess legal requirements for patient counseling, confidentiality, and professional liability to ensure ethical pharmacy practice and compliance with federal and state laws.
8. Apply knowledge of disciplinary actions, enforcement, and penalties for noncompliance with Texas and federal pharmacy laws in a way that aligns with MPJE-style questions.
9. Utilize this course as a structured guide to MPJE preparation while supplementing with independent study, primary resources, and practice exams to ensure comprehensive readiness for the exam.

Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.
