Summary

Activity Description:

Personalized medicine is the way of the future, and what’s more personal than drug therapy designed for your DNA? Gone are the days where you spend months undergoing trial and error until you stumble upon the right therapy. Pharmacogenomics (PGx) testing cuts straight to your optimal medication and has the potential to reduce adverse drug reactions by 30%. Learn how to wield PGx tests across a broad spectrum of therapeutic areas to save time, money, and lives!

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:

  1. Define pharmacogenomics (PGx) and its role in medication safety.
  2. Interpret laboratory results of a PGx test panel and its implications on medication therapy.
  3. Describe opportunities for incorporating PGx in various pharmacy practice settings.

Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.
