Summary

Activity Description:
Human trafficking is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world and is growing exponentially in the United States. Pharmacists are situated in an integral position to identify and communicate with victims while still in captivity.  This activity includes information on the global human trafficking crisis in the United States and how it relates to pharmacy in particular. It aims to educate pharmacy professionals on the types of human trafficking, identification of potential victims, and how to safely intervene or report to appropriate authorities.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Describe different types of human trafficking and their local, statewide and international prevalence.
2. Identify potential signs of human trafficking in victims who present for care in a medical setting.
3. Discuss immediate healthcare needs of identified victims and develop ability for trauma-informed response.
4. Describe available resources for victim services and aftercare.

Texas Pharmacy Association (154) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Continuing education will be provided to participants who completed all course requirements.
